| He was elected one of the first members of the academic committee of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1955. He devoted his whole life to the study of animal ontogenesis, cell constant, cell regeneration, intermediacy, sex transformation, chromosome structure, and cell reconstruction. He was famous for his outstanding study of cell reconstruction. He has successively served as president of the executive council of the China Society of Animals and China Society of Biophysics, director of the Institute of Experimental Biology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and director of the Institute of Biophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, deputy director of the committee of chief editors of China Encyclopedia and director of committee of editors of the China Society of Biophysics. |
