| He was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1995. He engages himself mainly in plasm physics and theoretical physics. He has made outstanding contributions to the study of top defense sciences. He took charge of the ICF research project of the State "863" Program and the "Nonlinear Science" Program, a state key basic research program. He won many prizes such as the second prize of National Natural Sciences Awards and the first prize of National Award of Science and Technology Advancement. He was the former deputy director of the Beijing Institute of Applied Physics and Computational Mathematics. He now is a research fellow of this institute. He is the chief scientist of the expert group responsible for the State High-tech Program of Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF) and President of the School of Physics of Zhejiang University and so on. |
