| He was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1997. In the 1950s, it was he who took the lead in the clinic and experimental study of the Traditional Chinese Medicine idea that the “kidney” is the essence of a person. He proved that the insufficiency of the kidney-yang has its specific material basis for the first time in the world, and he positioned the key position of regulation at hypothalamus. He is also good at curing difficult and complicated case and miscellaneous diseases, such as pertinacious asthma, nephropathy syndrome, and ascites due to cirrhosis, to name just a few. Since 1978, he has won 16 awards from the State and the Ministry of Health. At present, he is the honorary director of the Research Institute of Combination of Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine of Shanghai Medical University, a member of the Appraisal Committee of Drugs under the Ministry of Health, and deputy director of the China Society of Combination of Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine. His works, The Study of Kidney, The Study of Chinese Medicine Treatment Principles, are collected in "Local Literature Collection of Works by Celebrities of Ningbo Natives"of the Ningbo Municipal Library. |
