| He was elected a member of the academic committee of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1991. He challenged the traditional statement of maximum stress accepted by the international academia and founded a series of new theories such as thermoplastic abhesives cutting model equation and distortion partial evolution which has been called as "Model Bai" or "Criterion Bai". He founded the submicrosecond impulse technology and established the evolution theory and basis of tiny lame nonequilibrium statistics. At present, he is chairman of Academic Committee of the Institute of Mechanics of Chinese Academy of Sciences, director of the State Key Laboratory of Nonlinear Mechanics, president of the executive council of China's Mechanics Society, director of Mathemetics and Physics Division of the National Natural Science Foundation (NSF). |
