| He was elected a member of the academic committee of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1991. He was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) in 1994. In the 1960s, he engaged in the study of error correction coding in data communication and the development of data communication error correction coding equipment, which was awarded by National S&T Conference in 1978. In the 1980s, he took part in the development of “DS – 2000 program-controlled digital telephone switchboard” and completed China’s first independently-developed local-used program-controlled digital telephone switchboard for which he won the first prize of National Award of Science and Technology Advancement. At present, he is engaged in the study of intelligentization of networks. He took charge of the development of China’s first intelligentized network system which was applied to China’s communications network. At present, he is a professor at Beijing Post and Communications University, director of the Academic Committee of the State Key Laboratory of Program-Controlled Technology and Communications Network Research, and concurrently director of the Department of Information Science under the National Natural Science Foundation (NSF).
His work, Logic Design of Digital Circuit, is collected in "Local Literature • Collection of Works by Celebrities of Ningbo Natives" of the Ningbo Municipal Library.
