| He was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1997. He has been engaged in the study of the brachiopod genealogical classification and community ecology in the early and middle Paleozoic. He has made a summary of the brachiopoda zoogeography of the world for several times. He clarified the distribution environment of the brachiopod zoobiocenose in the late Ordovician. He identified the biogeographic region controlled by temperature. He studied the fauna in the late Silurian and classified the Sino-Australian zoogeographical region. He illustrated some scientific theories such as macroevolution rule of carpale structure of some shells and fossilia spiriferis. At present, he is a research fellow of the Nanjing Institute of Geology and Palaeontology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. |
