| He was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) in 1995. He has been engaging in the study of theoretical naval architecture, high-speed hydrodynamics, and in-and-out water theory. It was he who laid the foundation of China’s hydroflap and hydrodynamics design and started the research field of propeller-excited vibration. In the shipbuilding circle, he is the first person who put forward the method of “Sydai Extreme Point Correction” which has been included in various ship design handbooks and textbooks. He has made some creative achievements in the study of screw exciting force, hydroflap wave-making theory, and hovercraft principle. In recent years, he has done some study of hydromechanics in magnetic recording and established the first base engaging the study of this kind of questions. He has successively served as vice president of the executive council of the China Society of Mechanics, and deputy director of the Committee of Managing Affairs of Shanghai Jiaotong University. |
