| He was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE) in 1997. He has been engaging in teaching and scientific study of some fields, such as constructional engineering, underground engineering and defense engineering. He has done a systematic study in some fields such as the load effect of structures under explosion, the performance evaluation of existing structures, the design method of defense project, the performance and design of concrete structures with high tension and high performance, and made relatively remarkable achievements. At present, he is a professor in the Civil Engineering Department of Tsinghua University, president of the executive council of the China Society of Civil Engineering, vice president of the executive council of the China Society of Defense Engineering, a member of the Appraisal Group of the Civil Engineering Discipline of Academic Degrees Committee of State Council. |
