| He was elected academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1997. He is the first one in the world to confirm the hypothesis that alpha1-adrenoceptor (a1-AR) has two subtypes. He has made in-depth study of various a1-AR subtypes’ distribution in the heart and blood vessels, the medium conductive effect and adjustment characteristics, and the interaction with ?-AR and the changes in various pathological conditions. He revealed the physiological and pathophysiological significance of co-existence of subtypes of alpha1-adrenoceptor in heart and blood vessels. He, with his colleagues, brings forward the hypothesis that calcitonin gene-related peptide is the common-used information molecule in the nervous system and immune system. At present he serves as the vice-managing president of Peking University, president of the graduate school, and director of PKU Medical Center. |
