2003 Zhejiang (Ningbo) International Prestigious Institution-and-University Hi-tech Fair

        In order to strengthen understanding and cooperation among universities, research institutes and enterprises in each country, promote the transfer and application of scientific research results domestically and internationally, improve the contribution ratio of science and technology to each country's economic development, `2003 Zhejiang (Ningbo) International Prestigious Institution-and-University Hi-tech Fair, co-sponsored by Department of International Cooperation of Ministry of Science and Technology of China (MOST), Asian and Pacific Center for Transfer of Technology(APCTT), Zhejiang Provincial Science and Technology Department and Ningbo Municipal People's Government, will be held from September 22 to 26, 2003 (during the 5th Zhejiang Investment & Trade Symposium) in Ningbo, China.

1.History review

        Zhejiang Investment & Trade Symposium (ZJITS), an important economic and trading event in Zhejiang Province, is the best shortcut for both domestic and foreign businessmen to find investment and trade chance in Zhejiang Province. From 1999, the Symposium has been successfully held for four consecutive years in Ningbo with more than 18000 guests from over 70 countries and regions. 1519 projects has been signed with total investment of US$17.964 billion, contract investment of US$9.89 billion and trade volume of US$761 million.

        Science and technology project negotiation is a key event among ZJITS serial important activities. During 2002 ZJITS, the Hi-tech Fair attracted 26 domestic famous universities and research institutes, including Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and so on. Over 2500 latest research results were presented during the Fair and nearly 800 enterprises participated project negotiations with 27 S&T cooperation project contracts and 217 cooperation intent letters were signed.

3. Time:

        September 20-21 Registration and decoration of the exhibition berth.
        September 22-23 Attending Hi-tech Fair.
        Opening Ceremony will be held in the morning of September 22.
        Cooperation Projects Signing Ceremony will be held in the afternoon of September 22.
        The exhibition will be closed in the afternoon of September 23.
        September 24-25 Visit to Ningbo enterprises.

8. Delegates:

        The Fair will invite about 100 domestic and foreign experts, including about 11 domestic universities and research institutes with 6 delegates each unit and 10 foreign universities and research institutes from member countries of APCTT with 2 delegates from each unit. Each participating unit is required to submit delegates name list to the Organizing Committee by August 15.

9. Exhibition berth, show board and display items:

        The area of each booth is 3¡Á3M. The Organizing Committee will offer 6 booths free of charge to each domestic participating unit and 2-3 booths free of charge to each foreign participating unit. Each participating unit is required to submit following information to the Organizing Committee by August 15: detailed written material of S&T research results, S&T cooperation projects which are scheduled to be signed with relevant Zhejiang enterprises in the Fair and the requirement to the booth.

        To make negotiations more successful, apart from detailed written research results, show boards or display items are required to be prepared. The show board of foreign delegates could be either brought by delegates themselves or be made by the Organizing Committee with the charge of US$36.00/M2 or RMB300.00/M2.

10. Expenses:

        The Organizing Committee of the Fair covers meal, hotel accommodation, local travel expenses and berth charge occurred during the Fair in Ningbo for two delegates from each foreign unit and 6 delegates from each domestic unit while the domestic and international flight charge to and from Ningbo will be borne by delegates themselves. Other delegates will take care of all the expenses occurred by attending the Fair themselves.

11 Working languages:

        All domestic delegates are required to submit research achievement in both Chinese and English version. Foreign delegates are required to submit research achievement in English version and the Organizing Committee will be responsible for translating them into Chinese. During the fair, translators will be offered to help project negotiations.
