1. The S&T Cooperation Symposium Between Ningbo and HIT

        From October 21 to 24, 2002, Wang Shuguo, president of HIT, and his accompaniment paid a visit to Ningbo. During their stay in Ningbo, they held talks on the comprehensive cooperation between Ningbo and HIT, the S&T cooperation symposium, the signing ceremony of S&T cooperation programs, and made an inspection tour to some enterprises. Jin Deshui, Mayor of Ningbo, Lv Guorong, vice mayor of Ningbo, Wei Jianming, vice mayor of Ningbo, Ye Shengqiang, deputy secretary-general of the municipal government, Wang Yongkang, director of the Ningbo Science and Technology Bureau, took part in some of the relevant activities. A comprehensive cooperation framework agreement between Ningbo and HIT was signed, and at the same time, HIT signed the cooperation agreement of "co-constructing the Ningbo Shanshan S&T Pioneering Garden" with the Shanshan Group.

2.The Signing of Ningbo Shanshan S&T Pioneering Garden

        Yang Shiqin, former president of HIT, Wang Zuwen, vice president of HIT, came to Ningbo for an inspection tour and discussed the cooperation between Ningbo and HIT. Wei Jianming, vice mayor of Ningbo, and leaders of the Ningbo Science and Technology Bureau paid several visits to HIT. In 2001, as a result of the efforts of the leaders of the two parties, the Bada Group of HIT succeeded in the cooperation with Shouchuang Science and Technology Co. Ltd, and the HIT-Shouchuang Science and Technology Co. Ltd was founded.

        In March, 2002, Ningbo Science and Technology Bureau organized some relevant enterprises to take part in the Russian S&T Innovation Program Exhibition co-sponsored by Heilongjiang Sino-Russian S&T Cooperation and Industrialization Center and Russian National Defense Import and Export Company. The counties (county-level cities and districts) also conducted wide S&T cooperation and exchange with HIT. The Zhenhai District, Yinzhou District, Xiangshan County organized enterprises to go to HIT for inspections and discussion with the hope of getting technological support and cooperation programs.

3.The Exchange of Talent Introduction

        HIT successively designated 10 quality talents to work in Ningbo. Liu Yushan, an associate professor at HIT, is the executive deputy general manager of the HIT-Shouchuang Science and Technology Co. Ltd. Professor Li Jianzhong, chief scientist of HIT Software Engineering Co. Ltd, has made great contribution to the development of the software company of HIT-Shouchuang Science and Technology Co. Ltd.

4.The Co-construction of S&T Development Organizations

        The cooperation between Ningbo and HIT began from program cooperation. If necessary, we will try to establish some corresponding S&T development organization.

        The Ningbo Sub-Center of the HIT Software Development Center has developed some management software system such as good performance collateral data base server system and network information security system which have been applied to the management of telecommunications, financial business, taxation business and governmental affairs. The center has got great financial support from the State Planning Commission.

        Zhenhai Moshi Group signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with HIT, and did some cooperation and discussion on the co-construction of technical engineering center in particular.

        Zhenhai District, Yinzhou District, Xiangshan County are also planning to establish corresponding technology development organization through program cooperation.

5.The Introduction of High and New Technology Projects

        At present, there are almost 20 high and new technology projects being under way as part of the cooperation between Ningbo and HIT, such as the research and production project of testing instrument of rolling bearing friction moment (a cooperation project between Huaxiang Bearing Company and HIT) and the research and production of appraisal testing facilities of comprehensive indices of small entrenched ball bearing (a cooperation project between Moshi Group and HIT).
