A Brief Introduction of the Cooperation between Ningbo City and Zhejiang University

        The cooperation between Ningbo City and Zhejiang University has a long history. As early as in the early 1980s, Ningbo City began the comprehensive cooperation with Zhejiang University. In 1996, the Ningbo Municipal Government signed the S&T cooperation agreement with Zhejing University for the sake of enhancing the cooperation between cities and universities. In 1998, the new Zhejiang University came into being by incorporating four universities, namely, the original Zhejiang University, Hangzhou University, Zhejiang Agriculture University and Zhejiang Medical University. In order to further enhance the friendly, long-term, and close cooperation between Ningbo city and Zhejiang University, promote the development of the high and new technology industry, realize the transfer of S&T achievements of Zhejiang University, a comprehensive S&T cooperation agreement between Ningno City and Zhejiang University was signed in 1999. Since the signing of the "Cooperation Agreement", the leaderships of Ningbo and the University have attached great importance to the advancement of cooperation between Ningbo and Zhejiang University and paid frequent visits to each other. A number of significant cooperation agreements have been signed, such as "The Agreement of Co-Constructing the Ningbo Sun-Park of the State University High-tech Park of Zhejiang University," and "The Agreement of Establishing the Ningbo Sub-School of the School of Network and Software of Zhejiang University"; A series of activities have been held, such as "The Coordinating Meeting of S&T Cooperation Between Ningbo and Zhejiang University", "The Ceremony of the Founding of Ningbo Sub-School of the School of Network and Software of Zhejiang University," and "The Negotiation Talks of S&T Cooperation Between One-Hundred Institutes and One-Hundred Enterprises of Ningbo". A number of centers of engineering studies have been introduced and co-constructed, such as "The Ningbo Sub-Center of the State Center of Engineering Studies of Industrial Automation," and "The Ningbo Sub-Center of the State Center of Engineering Technology Studies of Electro-hydraulic Control". These cooperation achievements have been highly valued by the leaderships of the two parties. It is a common understanding that the comprehensive cooperation between Ningbo and Zhejiang University has entered a new historic stage.
